Did you know?? That everyone has different opinions on what “sucks” and has different priorities for their living situation??
But for real idk how you’re so bad at searching. I pay $1255. Live alone, on the lake. Gym in the building. AC included. It’s not that hard.
The city doesn’t end at Western Ave...I’ve lived on the NW side (Irving Park, Portage Park) for 20 years; nice neighborhoods, nice apartments, near public trans (L and Metra) and never paid more than $900 rent.
I make almost twice that and still pay less than that in Chicago. Be smart ppl!
I just went through an apartment search and where did you all find these places for under 1500. They all suck hard.
“Hey, can you guys figure out a budget for my housing without knowing my bills, lifestyle, spending habits or living needs?”
Why are so many people asking this question today? Is this a meme?
I personally wouldn't pay more than 1200-1300 in Chicago rent, period. Mortgage...different story, but not for rent.
Afford yes. Have a life? No
Yeah have no idea where these people are finding 1br apts for less than $1500 that isnt in a bad area or in poor condition.
Seriously, where are you finding a nice one bedroom apartment for under $1,500?
It's Chicago... Why would u pay that much
Because thats how much it costs in chicago
Just asking.
You don't need to pay that much for a nice 1 bed in chicago. But yes, you could afford it, you probably just wouldn't have much expendable income.
Maybe OP wants a 2 bedroom? Anyway, it is hard to find a good one bedroom under 1400 nowadays. OP, I wouldn't do it personally unless you have a roommate.
You can swing it but it won’t leave you much to stash away in savings
Thats true. It doesn't. It ends at Kimball.
What are you guys even talking about. I spend more on less in Boston, and I have a great life and do a trip every month and manage to save money. 1700 rent with 75k is easy.
Who are you that you need to spend that much in Chicago? I had a really nice two bedroom for 1000 just a few years ago
You can totally stay somewhere $500 less and still be close to public transportation
