Capgemini fish, why or why should I not join your company as a manager. Looking for specifics about culture besides "lol it's capgemini"

The culture is very open. I have been here about 12 years and have always found my managers and their managers very approachable. That said, a lot depends on your practice. And the person who leads it.
Capgemini has a different way of working than D, A and Indian providers. Not to say that one is better than other but they are different.
I find Capgemini to be less aggressive than other firms. It is a little more stable than the big 4.
If you are moving from the Indian IT firms , you will find that the way you interact with clients is a lot different. More collaborative and less of what can I do for you.
If you are moving from the big 4, the way you interact with clients is a little different. Less of this is how it should be done and again more collaborative. What can we get done together.
Hope that helps

lol it’s capgemini

funny

A1 - the marketing name is Capgemini, 1 word, capitalized. The legal entity name for the group of companies is Cap Gemini, S.A.

At Capgemini, it’s a very collaborative team environment, people try to help each other, supportive culture, want to do what’s right for the clients, I usually never work on weekends but will work a lot during the week depending on the project. The people are people who I genuinely want to hang out with too. It’s just a very good culture. It’s also very entrepreneurial.

Capgemini? Sounds like the next sketchy crypto currency.

Like everywhere, it has its ups and downs. I've been here 7 years and had some great projects and leaders, along with my share of hellish projects and absentee leaders. You definitely want to negotiate a good starting salary as annual increases are frequently mediocre

It's a fine place to work. I've worked closely in multiple multi-vendor environments with consultants from across the board (HCL, PwC, Accenture, IBM, and Deloitte on the product agnostic implementation side). I can tell you, from conversations over dinner, drinks, a run, etc, that every one of them has gripes about their company. I personally think Capgemini is a good place to work, but as much as anywhere else, there is good and bad, and a lot of it is about your network, so a change of scenery can be challenging in that area. I can get into more detail about my experience 1:1 if you want to share a burner.

Also, I have seen a lot of people leave Capgemini and then come back. A lot of them site the reason that the grass on the other side is not as green as they thought it would be. Some people complain about salary. I personally don’t think the differential is worth cribbing about. I have been able to manage my workload very well to have a good work-life balance. Apart from travel , I have not heard people crib about the work life balance either.

I enjoyed my +5 years there. Yes, it isn’t perfect but what firms are. Some leadership changes were questionable at best but were eventually rectified. I liked the people and leadership there. Pay may not be on par with other firms

@M1 where are you at now?

@M1 what made you leave? It's a good sign that you're saying positive things after leaving

Is it capgemini or cap gemini

Also agree with the sentiments that big 4 is more what we can do for you. I miss being a bit more collaborative with the clients we work with

OP- I left cause I got approached by B4 and thought I wanted a change of scenery. But like M3 said, grass is not always greener. I really miss the collaboration and team members aren’t trying to always stab you in the back. Maybe one day I’ll go back.

Should I leave my first permanent job as a team leader of 4 DPs in a FMCG business (only been there for 4 months) to join a huge Tech business for a 12months contract?

They offer me 60% more money than my permanent role. Circa 2000 dollars every month in my pocket

However, I am worried if I accept the tech role and I do not become permanent I will be looking again for a job in 12-24 months and my CV won't be showing a managerial position. Won't be showing any progress.

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?

Hi all! I work at a nonprofit and am looking to leave the organization. As I browse available positions in my area, I’m realizing there is a LOT of crossover between my current org and others, for example shared board members, folks who are on our board and employed at one of the institutions I’m interested in, etc.. Is there a way to say “my current org doesn’t know I’m looking, so please treat my interest with discretion” that doesn’t raise red flags? Thanks!

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. I’ve been asked to provide examples how my role has changed since I started to justify the increase. Is this normal? Or is this just their way of denying my request?
