Are you married? If not, have him get his own card.
We are married !
As someone with a CSR with an AU, reconciling expenses is a pain in the ass. Amex will at least tag expenses per AU, whereas chase does not.
It's also $75 to add an AU. So make sure they're going to accrue >5k points annually to make it worth it for them. If not, just always pick up the tab and have them pay you back.
Freedom - get own card. Doubles your cap on 5x categories. CSR - get own card when signup bonus is big (60k max these days?)
We did double CSR back when it was 100k. Canceled one before renewal and added SO as AU. More than enough solo dining to justify it + nice having 2nd Priority Pass
For CSR, should I have him as an AU for now and wait until there’s a good sign up bonus and sign him up then after a year cancel it and have him as an AU on my account again ?
Why do you want him as an AU on your card so bad?
I want to build up more points. Since he doesn’t travel much, didn’t seem to make sense to have him get his own card and pay the full yearly fee
If you are an authorized user of your spouce's card, you are still eligible for sign up bonuses down the road. I was at least.
