Considering insurance options - what do people have? Thus far ours are a bit of insurance from our employers (I know we lose it if we leave our jobs, hence this question). We of course have car, home, and umbrella.
We also have AICPA LTD (it's pretty inexpensive). Should we explore other LTD? Should we explore Long term care (spouse and I are both 35, no kids but exploring in the next year or so). We're taking a look at laddered term life but don't know where to start. Anything else?

Insurance is simply risk-management. How much do you want to pay for peace of mind? Term is probably the short answer and everyone in your age range should probably have some sort of term LI outside of what your employer offers. Consider specific goals if you choose to ladder as part of your bigger overall financial plan. Something like "if I pass before age xx, i'd like my house paid off or i'd like my kids' education paid for" and structure your policy/policies accordingly. Probably better to be slightly "over-insured" than under. Obviously, shop around for the best rates. At your age, assuming decent health/non-tobacco users, you can probably get some pretty decent 20 - 25 year term for a good price.

Also 35 and have LTD. 8 bucks a month for 67% salary in case something happens. No longterm care. Budgeting for retirement and will plan that cost rather than insure it.

if you make $80k+, drive to work, and/or have a home, then consider a 1M+ umbrella policy.

(Else, 1 bad car accident with injuries could leave you exposed)

I’m maxing out my 401K, traditional IRA and HSA this year and paying for some house improvements. I have about $750K total investments and very close to $2M net worth, but realize that I am behind on investments if I want to do FIRE. I was focused on paying off huge chunks of my mortgage and managed to whittle it down to $75K left. Would you suggest I go ahead and pay that off this year? Or pause and do a mega back door roth instead? I’m mid 40s. Thanks!
