Started in B4 audit 💃🏻

DM me. I wasn't in either but most of my co workers were.

Audit

I went high tech (semiconductor) manufacturing > startup > QA > text book publishing > magazine publishing > consulting (freelance) > photographer and producer > consulting (freelance) > agency (Madison Ave) > consulting (B4)

I liked being a professional photographer the best but was hard to make a living in NYC.
I got my mba equivalent with my experience and reading a lot of books along the way (so no.)
I never thought I would go so many ways so you have to go with the flow and see what direction life takes you. Don’t try and lock down your future, enjoy the ride!

People don't really start out in FDD, do they? It's usually a stepping stone from audit to something else.

Interested in working in PE, but experiences align more with the Ops side (3 YOE in strategic value creation). Is there a significant difference in total comp potential between ops and investments roles? Not sure how to make a case to break into investments with minimal DD experience, so thinking about Ops recruitment (Associate). Would also be grateful to learn about potential strategies non-DD focused consultants have used to ultimately break into investment teams.

Functioning currently as a PM without the title looking to transition onto the project side completely —what would be the best way to pivot?

Adding that a SCRUM is currently in the works. Open to switch companies and looking for remote.

I am applying for my FL CPA license. The work experience form asks for the start date, end date, and number of weeks employed. If I started working full time 7/20/20, do I just count 52 weeks and put that as my end date (i.e. 7/19/21)? Or should I put today (making it 56 weeks)?

Is it wrong that I’m just not into PE/VC? It seems to be the most desirable exit for most people that I work with. The work seems like it’s not a good fit for me but it feels crazy to pass up trying to get that amount of money when there really isn’t a realistic alternative to that amount of wealth (and I do want that amount of wealth).

I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Will this ruin my opportunities down the road?

Happy wife happy life is a really toxic saying. I’m just shocked how this has become the standard saying for men in relationships. I have friends of mine saying this all the time, and I have just thought it’s so cringe and always want to say my thoughts on it but always decide to hold back. However, imagine the saying reversed - happy husband happy life - that would lead to all kinds of uproar. To me happy wife happy life means I need to sacrifice my wants and needs to make my wife happy.
