Currently a 3rd year on Core side. Moved cities a year ago to join new client engagement, that was going through a carve-out, for the ‘opportunity.’ The year has felt like 10. I am burnt out and there is no overall team improvement in sight. I am generally burnt out from Core & looking for new options, but also feel guilty for doing so, which may be my own problem that I just need to get over. Do you feel like happier people being in the COE role? Or same story different setting? How is work?

Has anyone went from saas to benefit consulting? How was that transition? Was it worth it? I hear in benefits you get a book with recurring revenue.

I just got my client divorced from a truly horrible person who abused her and her children and she got everything she wanted and the kids are doing great and only one hasn't been successfully discharged from therapy and I'm just so proud of her and feel so lucky that I got to do a little to help her along the way

What’s a good starting salary for a newer attorney? I’ve never worked anywhere but in the public sector (even before becoming an attorney). I currently clerk for a judge and now am up to $44k as of July 1. I’m in KY. I’ve recently had a couple attorneys reach out to me about joining their practice. I’m not ready to leave my current role but I have no idea what to consider as a reasonable salary. I’ve been licensed a year and this is my first law-related job so I’m a complete newbie.

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .

I’m so scared to let a relationship that gives me anxiety go because I’m 36 F and feel like I’m not going to find anyone else. He’s not a horrible person, but he can be inconsistent. When I bring it up to him he says he’ll try harder but then always goes back to default. I stick around because I think it’s more a personality trait and not that he’s not interested in me (maybe I’m naïve). Could really use some encouragement from a bunch of strangers.

Still part of the TEA initiative or are we just babysitting? It’s a hard swallow to think we are actually tech enabling the audit when so much emphasis is placed on figuring out what work is easiest to bring under our staff’s belt... last time I checked shifting manpower through mass leverage models is not Tech Enabling the audit.... give it a couple of years and that model will not be sustainable if that’s the route....
