Currently an SC at one of the big 4, ~124,000 in salary, 0-12% bonus. It’s my promotion year but I just got an offer from a smaller firm as Manager, ~145,000 in salary, 0-20% bonus. Big 4 seems to have better upward mobility but the offer seems pretty decent as well. Should I jump ship or stay?

I would definitely go for the big 4 - the exit opportunities are better...I would see if big 4 can match the salary?

like

Thank you!

The smaller firm still hiring?

like

If you are up for promotion big 4 will prolly pay more than $145K

like

Not sure about your firm but it’s around 30% where I was.

like

I would stay at your firm and wait for your raise/promo bc it should exceed $145,000 and will put you in a much better situation long term!

Its a decent offer but nothing extraordinary. If you’re about to be promoted to manager I’d imagine you’ll be making about that much anyway so it really comes down to whether or not you want to stay at your current firm or on your current teams/projects or if you’re itching for something new/aren’t happy where you’re at

Yeah. I’d 100% take that unless you’re either a) absolutely in love with what you do now or b) dead set on making partner

I rather would want to take a path with high long term career potential.

For those of you in healthcare related account management, what is your healthcare background? I am clinical and getting ready to hire a higher level account manager. I am really biased toward people with clinical/in hospital experience because, quite frankly, healthcare is a different beast - lots of hand holding and change management. I don’t want to miss the right person because of my bias, so im wondering how many healthcare related AMs have healthcare/clinical experience… thanks in advance!

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

Is it worth it to go back to school for a better track to a FAANG company? The division I’m currently in seems like there are no good opportunities, and I have the funds available to finish my undergraduate full time (Canada). I applied to Amazon before for a highly senior position and made it to final interview so I think I would have a better chance for a new grad type role.

When a new type of project comes in and you get assigned as the PM to “figure out” the project plan, how do you go about resource allocation? Sometimes I struggle to know what the team configuration should even be, because we’ve never done said project type before. It’s hard to know what type of people should be assigned, and at what % time, when there isn’t a preexisting process or work breakdown structure for the deliverables I’m being handed to “manage.” How do/would you handle?

Additional Posts in Fraud and Forensics

Decided that I’m leaving audit today. Trying to understand the full range of opportunities in forensics. Will have my CPA and CFE. So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.

PwC 🐠, I interviewed with the firm about 6 months ago for a Senior Associate position on the forensics team. I wasn’t extended an offer because the position was given to an internal transfer, at least what I was told. I tried reaching out to the recruiter I worked with last time but the email bounced back and wouldn’t be delivered. I was hoping to see / reapply if the group still was looking for seniors.

In your opinion, would it be best to reapply as a cold application?

like

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!
