Decided its time for me to live alone after living with roommates for years, and want to move in a few months.

I live in a HCOL city and am not in a financial position to purchase a home here just yet. There’s the possibility of moving to buy somewhere LCOL short-term as an investment property, but I am hesitant to leave the city. I could also just sign a solo lease and continue for another two years to afford in my area. Thoughts?

28M 150K salary + ~60k assets (mostly stock)

Hi-I have 120K in cash in HYSA. After keeping emergency fund aside. Still have 75-80K available that I plan to invest. After 401k, HSA, IRA and monthly expenses: we are left with 6K every month. So investing 12K every month in market. My worry is with that rate - it will take us 12-14 months to move the extra 75-80K mentioned above. However do not want to make a bulk move. Any advise how to plan the switch. At present have 60K invested in stocks. Thanks

Can anyone explain to me how the price of btc/crypto is set? Is there a formula the prices follow, like all the btc that’s been mined, divided by the number of people who own them or whatever sets the price. Like what is the driving force that makes dogecoin $1 (or whatever it is now) and btc jump from $30k to $60k then back to $30k. When I go on Coinbase and I go to buy btc for $30k, who is the authority that says 1btc=$30k USD?

What books would you recommend I read?

For any of you real estate investors, what tools or sources did you learn from when getting started. Can’t find a mentor currently so want to find some highly recommended books or videos. If focused on the tri-state area (NY, NJ, Long Island mainly) that would be even better. My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Trying to understand all the steps, traps, and how to find if it’s a good investment.

Looked at a house (new build) and MIL said the vinyl windows imply the whole house is probably made with cheap, shoddy materials. She thinks everything has to be wood Marvin windows or bust. With my partner we are considering making a move to the countryside of Switzerland, with a gorgeous RE project offering incredible views on immaculate mountains and lake. However, it is far away, and will require 1h+ train/car commute vs. 10 min biking right now. We are scared it will bite us back at some point, although COVID helped w/ remote working being a new norm. The project will be done 2024, so I hope to have a more relax job by then. Any similar experience to share?
