After 5 years of good ratings I was terminated from a regional CPA firm, but my last day is next month. Am I obligated to tell a prospective employer I was fired while I am technically still employed?
Something’s been weighing on my mind. I messed up in a steering committee & tripped infront of the Sr. Client Stakeholders. I made a few other mistakes and was rolled off by my manager (SM) b/c I sucked and it was a higher burn engagement he needed a stronger BA. Now I find out he might’ve been laid off and I can’t help but to think it was my fault. We never really talked after this engagement but I feel like it’s my clumsiness that him fired and it makes me feel guilty and give a me anxiety.
Survived the layoffs on friday-but still shook up from seeing a bunch of my friends get walked out all around me. When a layoff happens should I be updating my resume/looking to get off the ship?
I was fired today. What do I do next? I’m a third year associate at a “boutique” firm. Although I knew my performance wasn’t good and I was on thin ice, I was never given any formal warning, so I was caught off guard when they called me and just fired me, effective immediately. I was locked out of the email and computer system before the call was over, and I’m already off the website. I was so caught off guard I hardly remember the conversation (cont)
If you're on a PiP, is it better to quit just before the end stage, when you get fired, or better to get fired and collect unemployment, but also have a company-based termination on your record
Just got laid off today 😥 super sad
My partner and I are thinking about moving to NYC! Are there any CW jobs there right now or is it totally oversaturated from layoffs?
If the big4 has an up or out model, do a lot of senior managers get laid off? Not everyone can be a partner/principle. How long can someone be a partner/principle for?
I had an interview today for an assistant controller job and it’s working in an industry I’ve worked in a little but not much. They’re fine with that but I’m worrying that I oversold myself. They want me to be able to manage month end by myself and show progression within 90 days. I’m naturally sales minded so I’m sitting here wondering if I’d be setting myself up for failure and get fired. Thoughts?
I got laid off today and need a new job asap. Would love to connect with anyone looking for a junior writer.
Am I ever going to get past the self doubt mode? I feel like every time I speak or do anything, I just sit and think about whether I should have said or done it. I get worried I am wrong or overstepped. I am constantly worried I will get fired for being incompetent. Gah, I wish I could just trust in myself.
Have you ever seen one of the nicest, most talented, hardest working people get fired for no good reason. Really breaks my heart about how heartless this industry can be ☹️
Would you choose an investment job at a private, partner-owned long only fund where you’re guaranteed to never lose your job& can be a multimillionaire; or at a very top L/S HF where the bottom performers are fired each year, but you could make multimillions in a good year? Another related q, would you forego the offer at the first place to potentially get the offer at the second place, knowing it’s very competitive? Assume you’re target background, at another top fund, good work ethics
Would you get fired if you edit your department partners’ picture and send it to your colleague?
Hey Fb friends - need an advise. My current firm hasn’t stated my GC process yet and with current processing time it appears to be somewhere around 12-15 months time to get PERM approved. In addition my current firm needs leadership approval & they make me sign a reimbursement form in case I quit. On other hand, I have approved i40 from my ex-employer (Big4) who fired me last fall, I don’t know if they will hire me back. Since I am from India and the date of filing appears like going to be…cont.
I’m 29, at my first serious job, and am getting fired (not laid off). Feel like an idiot, and don’t know anyone else my age who has been fired. If you’ve been fired, can you tell me about it? I’m LA based in PR & Comms.
I feel for all of those being laid off. Truly best of luck finding something. One thing I realized as a millennial in consulting is job security is non existent.
If you get fired from Deloitte (or similar), what would they say in a background check? Would they say “would not rehire” or something like that? Anyone have any issues with this?
Show of hands; who has been laid off because your agency lost a big client? Also, when you interviewed for your next job did you feel comfortable saying that? And do other agencies understand?
Hello everyone, Does anyone use 12.9 iPad (with a magic keyboard) as a “second workstation”? For example: lightweight typing machine when you need to work on an email or draft a document, or just join a conference call. My primary machine is MacBook Pro 16 but it’s a bit balky and I’d prefer not to take it with me when I’m leaving for a vacation.
who’s doing the sfdc and slack integration?
Has anyone ever left consulting for a 1 year contract gig at FAANG? Does contract work typically turn into a full-time role?
Been on FMLA / short term disability for 3 months and doctor recommended 1.5 months extension. My firm refused the extended leave but we’re unable to provide reasons what the under hardship for the firm is. They are pressing me hard for alternative ada accommodation (anything but continuous leave) so I can get back to work. If not they will terminate me next day. Is it legal?
In your experience, do any agencies foster a culture of mentorship? Meaning mentorship is encouraged, celebrated, and incentivized? So many have mentorship programs that go unused, but I’m curious if there are any agencies that bake it into their culture.
How do you deal with someone who consistently doesn’t contribute to a project that’s supposed to be a shared? I like him as a person but this has now been 2 months of me & my senior strat doing all the work while this other guy rarely contributes because he claims to be busy. I think my boss finally saw this - last time he had us take ownership of various parts, he didn’t even bother adding this dude but I still waste time waiting for him to respond, says he can meet then doesn’t, etc.
I have decided to leave my firm and would appreciate your input. If you work for a firm/company that empowers women and supports their growth to leadership positions, and has a decent culture, please drop the name to add to my target list. Thank you
Got a 4 in my first year but not on a PIP. My current project is going very well. Is there any chance for me to get promoted next year ?

Does Deloitte have any promotions with SPG or Marriott where we get some bonus points just for checking in? Heard EY and KPMG have something like that!
Do you ever get conscious telling people that you work in HR? I feel like there is a stigma against our profession.
Salesforce counsel...any insights as to salary, work culture, and hours? I am a 3rd year M&A associate and considering throwing an application in.
Thoughts on Dentsu Aegis? I've received an offer for a role (promotion) and thinking about whether it is a sound move - especially in this environment. They went through furloughs and pay cuts in April due to COVID. I'd be making the move from EY which is a great company to work with - but there is such a long line up to get a promotion, and for roles I've interviewed for internally I get the good ole - you were awesome and it was rly close, but someone was just a better fit.
Moms out there wfh with a nanny that have an infant any suggestions for them to keep entertained? Mine is 10 months and I need some ideas for sensory play or just new fun activities for them
Is there a way to benefit from spending so much on the company card through points or sales or offers?
