Yes
550 - 200 Uber - 200 travel = 150, which is less than PRG. Obviously PRG has benefits too, but if you value Delta and Centurion lounge at all it's likely worth the $150, as is the increase points earning through Amex Travel on flights and hotels.
OP, I'm sure you could upgrade from the Gold to the Platinum but why would you? From a value perspective, it'd be better to cancel the Gold card after a year and apply for the Platinum to get the sign-up bonus.
You can check cardmatch.com as well to see if you're targeted for the 100,000 point sign-up bonus for the Platinum as well; otherwise it'll be 60,000 points.
PRG is great if you don't need what platinum offers over and above...i.e. travel credit, Uber credits, lounge access, a lot of personal travel spend making the higher points accrual valuable.
For the first year at least, yes. I cancelled afterr that
TSC1 I was speaking to someone from Amex last night and they said after a year, you could get an offer to upgrade to platinum. Did you get that offer by any chance?
DD1 I do want all that, but I’m trying to weight it against the $550 cost. I feel like the net value of a premier gold is higher. Thoughts l?
Overall, for 90% of people on this app I don't think either card is a keeper after the first year, unless you just really love Centurion lounge access. The CSR is a better option
