Hi guys,
Need help,I am joining VMware Banglore on 27th June. During interview I told them I need wfh. They said it wil be wfh this entire year. Only mistake I did was i didn't permanent wfh. I took for granted like once I join i can opt for it ( as my VMware friends had said we can opt for it)
Now the offices have started, I am scared if they call me to office , I have 14months son, not willing to leave him n go for office.
So if I ask manager to give me permanent wfh will they agree ?
Who's won WFH bingo already?

If it qualifies as a service dog under ADA, I’d have a hard time seeing them denying anything. They must, under ADA, make reasonable accommodations for you. But they could say WFH is a reasonable accommodation.
But I’d have a hard time seeing them want to potentially deal with ADA lawsuits should they be difficult on this …. assuming again it’s a legitimate service animal. I’m not an expert though.
I hope you get the resolution you want. But this is definitely a new one.
I am sure this is not a new one for HR professionals because like airports, they will have to build a place for your dog to relief, feed. I don’t know what else will be a factor like lease agreement, health regulations. Also, i m pretty sure how well trained the dog is a factor because I cannot imagine it will be a 3 strike situation if the dog bites a coworker.
So I would just take her outside when she needs to go lol she’s really well trained and I did get
formal training for her(just not related to my disability)
She is a legitimate service dog(I trained her) it’s for ADD so going into the office and having a routine is important for me, my medical provider submitted the form they sent me so idk, it just seems like not being able to go in would be pretty prohibitive
I’m allergic to dogs, so your hypoallergenic dog wouldn’t be an issue for me, but those who are not hypoallergenic may present an issue for others.
There are people who are allergic to dogs so prob HR will say no to eliminate such risk.
PWC 3, this is the legal obligation an employer has. To allow the adaptive device as long as there’s ANY feasible way to prevent it from making another person ill.
So my dog is hypoallergenic, I forgot to mention that to them
Yeah that’s what I was thinking too, honestly that’s why I got a hypoallergenic dog so it doesn’t create issues for others. Does anybody else have a service dog they bring to the office with them at EY?
I’m obviously not at EY, but I’ve been looking to find another consultant who has an SD. You are the first person I’ve come across. Feel free to message me if you want to discuss!
I have a service dog who goes everywhere with me, including into the office and traveling as a consultant.
You can’t be denied the right to bring an ADA-compliant service animal into your workplace unless it poses a risk to the health or safety of others. And even with allergies, the employer has an obligation to make every effort to keep allergic people in separate work spaces so that you can still come in with your dog!
I have to say, a legitimate service dog handler would know the in’s and out’s involved here like the back of their hand… There’s a number of flags here indicating that this isn’t the case in this scenario. I do of course sympathize with your struggles nonetheless and hope you are able to find a legal and workable solution for yourself!
