Yes, this happened to me at my last job where my boss had it out for me, and when I got my current role, I had a lot of self-doubt. The key for me was to remember that I got hired for a reason and that I’m a valuable part of the team. And, from there, the confidence overcame the doubts. It was a gradual thing. But it worked for me.
Btw, I’m in a much healthier work environment now. But I’m trying to learn how to get over this trauma and move on.

Yes, in a way.
I’ve definitely dealt with negative working environments where my skills were demeaned, taken advantage of, and undermined. It affected my self-esteem for a long time and definitely exacerbated my depression.
It took years for me to get over it (and time was really the only panacea), and I use those shitty experiences as a learning for what NOT to do, and how to be a better manager, mentor, and supervisor compared to what I’ve had.
Yes! You are not alone.
Yes and I will never be the same apparently
Yes. It’s to the extent where I want to switch careers. I had a hideous boss who beat me down and told me I was done. I still have nightmares it’s like ptsd.
Yup. Had some bosses who were out to get me, some who manipulated me, some who ignored me, and some who noodled in every detail.
I think if anything I’m more keen to realize what type of boss I’m dealing with now and have been able to figure out how best to manage my emotions and reactions to their management style.

Anxiety is a medical condition that grows on you, like an allergy. Don’t chalk it up to situations, as you may wind up in flight mode constantly. See a doctor and get it treated.
