This is something you should negotiate with your new employer. My old job took back my bonus. JP was happy to take care of it.
Yep. Most firms are pretty serious about their claw backs otherwise it would be an empty threat. Full amount pretax, not pro-rated.
Yup
^that meant you will lose money cuz of tax?
@citigroup1 you knew someone who chose not to take it?
They’re going to waste time and effort over that? Doubt it? I’ve heard of people leaving and not paying back. Any one actually hear of enforcement?
How long after you’ve joined is this?
Yes. Pre tax. So you get screwed on the tax.
Think you can elect not to take it though .. if you're def sure you'll leave within a year
Somebody in my class said they didn't take it .. but they had a job lined up and left in a couple months
How exactly do they go after you?
I presume they will sue your pants off.
They won’t sue. It’s all part of the offer you signed. It’s not slavery, You are free to leave but needs to payback. That is all
I mean to say if you don't pay it back.
A friend of mine had them threaten litigation multiple times when he refused to pay it. He eventually ended up paying it, so I’m not sure if they would go through with that or not
