Does Slalom have better work life balance, clients, or culture than Deloitte / Big 4?

Well, at a ratio of Deloitte/Big4, it's pretty easy to beat that 😉

Haha, I honestly can't add anything since I didn't come here from another consulting firm, but we are definitely known for promoting wlb very much and I can attest to that. Depends a bit on the location too

@DD1 most people are on site at a client, our clients just tend to be local

like

Dd1 it depends per client or project. I've seen most projects among various markets ask for people to be on-site m-Thursday

like

@DD1 yeah, you get to expense any costs above what it would cost you to get your home office

A lot of Chicago's clients are out in the burbs. You might end up driving quite a bit depending on where you get staffed.

Work life balance is generally good.

helpful

Everyone seems so be super happy over there!

Since there’s no required travel, do you have to be in the office everyday?

How’s Chicago? Any Strategy M/A work?

How’s training?

Do you get to expense mileage? If it’s more than your commute to the home office

SC4 - Do what’s a typical annual bonus? If you come in as a Consultant around $120k, how many realistic years until you get a raise? A significant one? Say 10-20%?

Thanks for all the info btw Slalom folks! I’m in talks with a recruiter so this is very helpful. One more question on my end, what’s the utilization goal?

How are bonuses

7-15% bonus, I got my first raise 6 months in

Does anyone what their VA office clients are like? A break from Federal would be nice

@SC4 I’m interviewing now in Chicago. Do you think I’ll need to buy a car? Or is there an option to rent a car on a project?

I live in Western/Central NY (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse). Anyone know if there is any consistent client work up there? Slalom or other firms? Or does Slalom require you to be in a big city?

Slalom doesn't have a local office in upstate NY. You probably need to be closer to NYC or Boston.

Hello! I'm currently an associate consultant in the United States. I was wondering if anyone has any tips/suggestions or referrals for a Project Coordinator or Junior Project Manager role? I'm currently studying for the CAPM exam and will apply for new positions in 2 months or so.

I've been approached to advise a SAAS startup, series B roundwise, with a 4-5 hours per week expectation max. How would you figure out how much equity ask for (company is valued at 54m USD)?

Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
