McKinsey & Company Hi all! Any fishes at BCG and/or McK have time to chat sometime within the next few days/weeks?
I’m a consulting analyst at Accenture, really interested in strategy work (mainly tech/software clients but open to all backgrounds) hoping to make the jump some time next year. I’d very much appreciate connecting to understand your journey with the firms and the work you do.
Thanks in advance, and happy holidays!

I would imagine a senior managers referral would have more weight than a 1st year analyst.
I know of one instance where the partner referred his daughter and it seemed to work out well. Amazing how well she did and rise up through the ranks all in her own. She was recognized for her merits.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not 😂
😂😂😂
No, it’s 100% on you and your background. Getting a referral puts your resume on top of the stack, but doesn’t guarantee anything.
Now, everything else equal, the SM’s referral holds more weight.
The only difference is at the SM level, you can specifically request a person for your project, interview them, then get them hired to your project.
At the M level, you should have connections with recruiters who know who you are and push your referrals through. That or you can push the resume through a SM or PPMD to get someone in. It’s not hard.
Of course the level matters. That said, for us, and I imagine others, the intensity of the referral matters far more. Better to have a peer pound the table about how great you are based on several years of working together or going to school together than some random partner saying they talked to you for 30 minutes and you seem “OK”
