Nice/Monaco, Dubrovnik, or Porto.
@BCG1 true, but Porto's population is nowhere near 1M
Lisbon - I can't emphasize this any more strongly. An absolute gem of a city
Was coming here to say Lisbon too!
Somewhere in Italy probably, not sure where exactly but following cause this sounds like a dream lol
Puglia, Italy!
Do you want to travel together? ;)
Seems like my cold dating request is rejected 💔
Sitges
Can recommend, went there unknowingly with a buddy (both hetero). Quite a surprise 😅
i just re-watched master of none and modena, italy would be a good fit!!
also it’s still fairly close to Amsterdam and it’s a small city but I also loved Utrecht

Pick a country and there will be a place like that. Spain country side, Italian wine country, south of France, all have exactly what you are looking for. If you want to get a little more adventurous, Germany, Greece, Belgium, etc. all have the same.
Ljubljana
Gdansk
Bruges
Toledo
Santander
San Sebastian
Granada
Algarve
Tallinn
Budva
Strausborg
And so many more great places...
I second strasbourg! Beautiful downtown, amazing food, and great drinking culture. Plus it’s a jumping off point for Alsatian wine country, which has even cuter little towns
I would recommend Bordeaux, France. Such a beautiful place.

Dingle, Ireland
This is also a great suggestion.

Tivat, Montenegro (perhaps still fancy hotel), small town feeling but not a lot of gay...
I came to recommend Montenegro as well. I knew someone from the Balkans and he said folks that live there vacation in Montenegro instead of Croatia. I’m wondering if Montenegro is going to be the next Croatia.
Not sure about LGBT atmosphere, but what you’re looking for a sounds like a trip I took with my family as a teenager. Stayed along the Mosel River. https://theculturetrip.com/europe/germany/articles/the-top-10-things-to-see-and-do-in-the-moselle-valley/
I lived in Southern Italy as a teenager and always felt the Mosel River Valley was just different than the rest of Europe. Laid back (and different laid back from the “domani” ethos of where I lived!)
Leon, France. Amazing and severely underrated!
Ha, yup...Lyon. Which apparently is also underrated by autocorrect.
Someone mentioned the areas surrounding Koln which I totally agree with and I would go further and say Bonn. An even better option could be Nienburg if you really want to get away
Can confirm - lived in Bonn for almost 2 years - it’s a great city. Lots of hiking in the “siebengebirge” - a local series of seven mountain peaks just outside town (try Königswinter). The Rhein, great food and a quaint old-world Euro vibe in city center.
Salzburg
Second Salzburg, stunning city.
All of Croatia
Toledo, Spain.
Not a super small town, but loved Florence. Pretty walkable to get to shops, cafes, museums and restaurants. Only thing you might need a taxi is if you want a view from the Piazzale Michelangelo otherwise all very walkable from a centralized B&B. Perfect solo trip imo.
