EY folks, why does Independence ask that your spouse rolls over their ex-employer's 401k to a current one? What if the spouse doesn't want to do it? What are the options?

Is 50% commission a good “salary”? Just received an offer with the following details: - 50% commission. Stepwise increase by 5% for every $5k per month (e.g., 50% of first $5k, 55% of next $5k, etc) (Resets every month) - treated as independent contractor - no health insurance, no 401k - no hour requirement, WFH option, flexible hours - they cover bar dues, CLEs I feel like 50% is very high. Obviously being an independent contractor costs me a bit more, but does this look like a decent deal?

How do you max out your 401k contribution for $19,500 limit without knowing what % contribution will get you there? Fidelity provides these calculators to help you figure out what contribution to set but I’m still not sure what % will get me to perfectly meet the limit without going too over or under in a year. Why is it so hard to find a generalist role in NYC?
