It depends on your team. Your firm should have a list of alternatives you can do to fulfill firm's need, if needed, we don't need it in Advisory. Project Management Professional and Certified Fraud Examiners are the 2 most common I've seen.

@OP how about a break?

like

@OP Perhaps subconsciously you don't really want it. Depends on the career route you're headed and if you really need to have it, then have the passion for it. Otherwise, like what PwC1 said, if you're in advisory you won't need it. I took CFA 1 twice and failed it (and was in asset management) I knew my heart wasn't in it. Now in Advisory and couldn't be more happier. Good luck to whatever you choose!

like

Ouch D1!

@OP it's not worth it. Switch now that you can because once you're in it and you have invested so much time and money for CPA you will probably stay just cause...

Reading this as I prepare to sit for my first section in April 😩

You've already taken it this many times. Pass the damn thing and coast at work, make easy cash while you figure out what you want to do with your life

I’m honestly tired of being at an agency and not feeling as fulfilled as I used with strategy as a career. Have anyone here make a career change? if so, what other jobs out there - outside of agencies and client side - can you apply what you know as a strategist? Curious if anyone has done it and has some advice.

I am a business development manager in a small biotech incubator. My end goal is to work in commercial, BD or operations within a big pharma/biotech company. What would be best for me:

1) stay in my company to quickly become BD Director and then exit (however my learning opportunities within my current company might be limited)
2) go do consulting for a few years
3) any other recommendations?

Thanks!

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

I am certified to pipeline (API 1104) code in dual processes (GMAW, SMAW) as well as an AWS CWI and a CPWI. Any advice/input is greatly appreciated!!

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

My book is just spec and side projects. I’m trying to get a new junior-to-mid role because I’ve gotten nothing good produced where I’m at, and I have zero faith this will change if I stick around.

I’m asked for work samples from recruiters and CDs even though I make clear that what I’ve done doesn’t reflect who I am as a creative. Think CRM/DM/B2B stuff. They insist on it, and I never hear back afterwards.

Not sure what to do. Almost feel like I’d be better off erasing my agency experience.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
