What do you want to be when you grow up?
Admittedly I’m being a little snarky, but the question is genuine. Early 30’s, post MBA, consulting background...30’s is still early enough to pivot to whatever industry, specialization, or function that they want to go into. The question is too open for anyone to answer effectively without first getting more information on what type of work the person likes doing, what their career ambitions are, what industries excite them, etc. judging that they’re also asking a fundamental question of if they should go specialized or stay general means they haven’t answered that question for themselves yet and until they do no response here is going to be helpful for them. So again I ask...what do you want to be when you grow up?
Mentor
One option would be to pivot into a different industry in consulting and then pivot to client-side. Start really paying attention to what your clients do. Is it interesting to you? Have informal chat with them if you can (usually this would just be a lunch).
Enthusiast
Can always find a role at the intersection of tech and healthcare - lot of things going on there.
Year behind you, but same boat. Seeming like I might have to take a few steps back and pursue roles more appropriate for fresh MBA hires given the lack of function & industry depth
Where do you work? What type of healthcare work? There is so much to do in healthcare - e.g., payer, provider, pharma, bio etc.
