Ask your employer how much THEIR portion is.
That $400 will sound like chump change.
$400/mo is nothing considered to private and open market
^ agree! If you want to know what your employer paid for YOUR health coverage look at your W2, Box 12, Code DD.
(Note some employers may be exempted from this reporting).
Just you or family plan? HDHP or PPO? What % do you pay after deductible is met? Too many factors to consider if this is absurd or not….

So many variables go into the pricing of coverage.
1) Whom are you covering? (Just yourself, or are you including dependents)
2) Is the plan Self-Funded (the Employer pays for your claims and owns the medical plan) or is it Fully Insured (Insurance Company pays the claims and owns the medical plan)?
3) What is the Plan Design in terms of Deductibles, Coinsurance, Copays, etc?
4) Does your employer offer any discounts that can reduce your premium? If they do, are you utilizing them? We offer a wellness program that can take $100/month off for employee coverage and an additional $100/month for the spouse participating. Entirely optional, but that is a lot of money on the table when people don't take advantage of it...

When I was working, I was paying $1,200 a month for a family plan and my employer was paying just over $1,000. This figure is very typical.
I pay about that a month not sure what my employer pays i think its the same but i have an extremely high deductable which will never be met so its like im throwing money away but i have to have it bc of being divorced and the court says i have to have it
That’s seems to be in the normal range, your employer must be paying twice or thrice that money..
The only way to escape this is to get a government job. #Facts
