I had a similar experience at a large NYC agency that flew me in from LA...twice. Emailed them once a week for a month before finally calling them out “Hey guys I’m sure everything is busy there, but I traveled cross country twice for you and I can’t even get follow up.” Finally I got the email, “OMG. That was so unprofessional of me...and you didn’t get the job.”
Meh. Sometimes it feels good to stick up for yourself. Even if it’s not the curse-filled monologue you have in your head.
(contd) I understand this seems to be a pretty standard story, but I am outraged by it. I want to contact the HR person to say - in a polite, non-petty way - that their behaviour is horribly disrespectful. Is it a silly thing to do? I just can’t live with the idea of being treated like this and not standing up for myself (and I guess for countless others)...
@Talent Acquisition Director: I was told that I would get feedback in a week. Now it’s been almost three weeks of silence. Of course I reached out via mail asking for an update, but they ignored me. While we were planning all my skype calls and travels the HR contacted me almost daily and suddenly they can’t find 5 minutes to answer. This just seems cruel - also given the fact that I put my life here on hold because of a potential move across the pond...
Very helpful.
I’m so glad you posted this. I had this treatment in Baltimore once and I handled it poorly. The guy clearly wasn’t ready to hire. I thought it was disrespectful and said so. Got me nothing but a bad experience
Yeah, if you’re still in the running, keep it to yourself.
OP, can you define the "never heard back" part? And if you've followed up etc.?
