Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

Not gonna lie, it’s kind of funny reading these posts about people setting up their whole lives trying to get to MBB and other top consulting firms, when literally every single person I know at these firms is trying to get out as fast as they can.
Chief
It’s also so strange to me because the people I know at MBB just went for a couple years straight out of college. I literally just decided I wanted to do this and spent a couple months prepping and now I’m here.
It’s a great place if you’re proactive about your own path, but by no means the be all end all of places to work
Can’t really tie into the MBA stuff, other than to say that you should focus on your priorities. Especially when it comes to MBB and “taking a toll on family life”, start looking elsewhere and I guarantee you can get something higher comp and much more chill. I did 1.5 years at Deloitte straight out of school after a 1-year masters and am now at 180 TC.
The roles are out there, you just have to find them. Not worth sacrificing family happiness for a job that could easily be replaced IMO. Best of luck! I’m sure you’re a wonderful candidate for whichever route you decide!
Excellent perspective and well out together..thanks for wishes too.
I had 7 years at EY risk consulting across two offices, in last year has an average team of 10 ppl working under me at any given time as a manager. When I quit to join a bank, while bottom of floor chain in my otherwise small team, 39% increase in comp, relaxed hours, and more meaningful work.
Motive was to understand motive and net benifits of ppl leaving jobs to pursue MBA and then join mbb consulting. Seems Its not unless one really needs change.
When I started my MBA I was making ~190TC. I decided to go part-time and I have a year left. I now make ~300TC. I think if the only reason you're going back to school is hinged on more money it's not necessary. For the jobs I'm trying to secure the quickest way is thru an MBA otherwise it will be many more years of experience. Think about where you want to be in your career not just $. If money is the sole motivator I'd say don't go and just get into tech sales. That's where the eye popping money is. No MBA required.
Thanks D1. Good insight.
Money isn't ofcourse only motivator and all jobs I like don't require MBA for now but chalking out future goals. Have already spent 7 years in big4 walking away from SM promotion few months out as physical and mental health was taking a toll. Sales is def something that wouldn't spark my interest for now but that's a good insight as well.
Out of curiosity and if you don't mind sharing, what was the position you were earning 190 and what's your position right now. I'm also assuming you went to ivy or Standford etc for your part time MBA (or was it emba)
That’s tough. MBB/Tier 2 are making 160-180 base, 30-40k Signing bonus and 15-30% annual bonus.
You’re at the cut off where it might not make sense, but it depends. Also, landing MBB is by no means a given.
I have recently seen number of people on big4 starting/completing MBA's with 5-8 years out in industry or consulting.
Back in 80s and 90s MBA actually meant Master of BA with classes having mid level mgt, and I know the trend then shifted towards ppl with 2-3 years of exp joining the classes. Perhaps trend is coming back of more experienced people doing MBA?
