It’s less about being a good student and more about finding simple ways to solve the math problems. Veritas prep was super helpful for me on quant. Verbal wasn’t hard.
I got a 650 with minimal prep. After Veritas shot it up to a 750 (46V 47Q).
IR and AWA are easy.

What school are you going to?
It's easy—don't let the prepcos sell you on their courses.
Spent a grand total of $40 on six Manhattan sample tests and did all the free samples I could find online. 750.
This post gives me hope
Take one without prep to see how good you’re at it and then decide what to do 👍🏻
One free one I mean. Obviously not the official one :)

I think a 650 is pretty straightforward. Don’t stress yourself out — but the exam pack that’s available online and do it. Use the official practice questions — not Kaplan, etc.
I got 710 after doing about 2-3 weeks of practice exames (weekends were fully devoted tho). It's really similar to the SATs imo

How did you do with the SAT? I scored a slightly lower percentile on my gmat but comparable. Test prep books helped me. Just logs of practice and learn the strategies

You’ll do well with prep then. Shouldn’t have trouble getting 700+
100 hours should put you into mid 700s if you’re a good test taker
Depends on what score you need… 😂
Honestly, a lot of schools don’t even require GMAT anymore. Unless you’re hard set on a school that happens to require it, I’d go with one that doesn’t.

And I started this whole thing by saying that advice to concentrate on schools that do not require GMAT is bad advice for anyone trying something competitive.
It is bad advice. I know there are MBAs in the Air Force, I was one in the Navy. The military, and government jobs as a whole in the most part, treat advanced degrees as a check in the box. Just going to a school that doesn’t require GMAT is fine if that is the only thing you want to do. It’s bad advice if you want to do something competitive, and a lot of vets find that out too late.
Many competitive environments do care about standardized test scores. MBB, IB, and PE all do. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker to not have taken it, or to have not done exceptionally well, but it’s something you have to get over. Putting obstacles in your path for something extremely competitive when the other candidates are all good is not a great strategy. That’s my entire point.
I apologize for the rudeness. I was a little drunk last night and shouldn’t have gotten on here while walking home.

This probably depends most on you. Are you a good standardized test taker? If so, it’s not bad and a 650 is easily achievable with minimal work. If you’re not, well then it might be a big ask.
Depends on how you do on standardized tests in general. I was 99th percentile in SATs and got comfortably got 99th percentile on GMAT with no prep besides the free practice test.
Forgot to mention, I was drinking the night before. Just be yourself and you’ll do fine OP
