Massive difference.
PE / VC is basically the only exit where prestige really does matter. Just look at VPs at top firms on LinkedIn.
Yale has some great aspects, particularly its social sector presence. But I think it’s quite weak for PE, definitely relative to HBS, maybe even relative to Stern
Pro
HBS has a much better reputation vs. Yale, and PE funds can be quite picky with it.
I can’t pin the exact numbers, but
HBS/Stanford > Wharton/CBS > other M7 > > Yale for PE recruiting
Pro
Good catch.
Pro
Sorry, but HUGE difference between HBS and Yale. One ranks top 3, and another one ranks top 15. PE tends to be very selective. So chances at Yale is pretty slim

From a quick look through Bain capital on LinkedIn, doesn’t look like they have anyone who didn’t go to H/S/W, not even other M7s.
If you are from HYPSM UG and worked at KKR, doesnt matter 😂
Honestly, I’m not sure you have a chance at either school if you don’t have prior pe / vc or top tier i banking experience (which it doesn’t look like you do)
Op - not trying to be harsh but I agree with those above. Top VC and PE firms are difficult to get even with relevant experience at HBS/GSB. Look at the associate level profiles at tier 1 VC firms. They’re almost exclusively HBS/GSB and worked at MBB, top finance/tech firms, or unicorn startups. If your profile is Deloitte and Yale MBA, your chances straight from b school will be close to 0.
