TechGC members: what benefits have you gotten out of this group? It seems like a great networking resource, but I balked at the price tag without a tangible understanding of how useful it is.

Have an opportunity to finally get out of insurance defense. But not really sold on the firm. Could finally get out of ID, but then could also end up at another place I really don't like. Def want my next firm to be long term as I've jumped around.

Have you ever taken a career slow down? I am feeling burnt out from COVID and the incremental responsibilities thrown my way over the last 5+ years. I feel like my health has deteriorated. I like my company, but I want to do less. I don’t need to be a HR Director, CHRO, etc. With a career slowdown, I am prepared for a lower compensation and would want decent benefits. Any lessons learned or success stories about career slowdowns?

Can you get MBA tuition reimbursement if you’re a Digital Strategy Analyst? Or, do you need to be baptized as a pure Strategy Analyst?

Weighing whether another year of IB experience would be helpful, or would just make me one year older at the same starting point in PE.
I’m 1.5 years out of college as an analyst at a middle market bank within the healthcare M&A group. Getting worked a lot but starting to operate as an associate on deals. Debating accepting an offer for a newer, lower-MM healthcare and growth focused PE firm. I know I want to go to PE at some point, but what are some thoughts on when you should go?

Are there any consulting firms that only do healthcare consulting? Can I talk to someone that works at any of these firms? Thank you.

Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. Any advice would be appreciated!

I have been working the same position for 5 years. But our job title has changed a few time I went from a pre registration rep to a verification specialist during my time there I want to branch out but not sure where to go from here. Have an acquaintance who is a single mom; she purchased a used car 3 mos ago. Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed. Acquaintance was switching insurance policies and flubbed the coverage dates and there were a few days where the vehicle was uninsured. No GAP insurance. I'm not seeing many options for her besides to continue pmts, fixing just enough to drive or voluntary repo. Thoughts?

I’m curious to hear which insurance company has the best work life balance for a senior commercial or middle market underwriting role. I currently only handle new business, which I love, but see that other companies like liberty make you handle new business and renewals. Any insight is appreciated.

What’s a good baseline amount to keep in a checking account? I generally keep mine pretty low <1000 after paying CCs then dump the rest in savings. As I’m building a rainy day fund and then I will start contributing my brokerage account.

Question! I just moved(transferred) to another team of my company and received new title, graphic & creative services. I was a senior graphic designer at the previous team. What do you think about my new title? I know that title is not a big thing but why I feel like my title is downgraded here… Good thing is my jobs here at my current team are what I really wanted to do. This is amazing. Currently work in a very unique Wealth Management ops role.

Getting paid 85k base with 40k in bonus plus about 35k~ in OT.

Money isn’t everything but in my late 20s it feels like the only thing important right now.

WLB is next to zero as 60hr weeks are the minimum as of late. Management feels like they are trying to push a few of us out. Was told not to expect much come year end for comp. Any suggestions on finding a new role/pay expectations?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
