GAP in PRACTICE from contracting Long COVID. Would anyone who has had to deal with describing this or a similar situation for your resume please share your advice and experience? I wasn't lounging around; I had to become a sole caregiver when the virus paralyzed my husband. He's finally stable in physical rehab; now I can finally return to practice. Would just like to touch on these past 5 yrs casually & honestly, while coming across as a Can-Do, problem solving, hard worker.

I would just describe what has happened and it is fine to take care a family member! For employers who don’t understand that, they likely not a good fit!

Your loyalty and commitment as a spouse is a wonderful character quality to any employer out there.

like

You can likely put "Medical Leave of Absence-Caregiver"

And also provide a list of references in your resume

Thank you so much! That is a great way to frame it!

I agree with another post, if an employer isn’t ok with it, not a good fit, Even so, consider what you can put in that looks like work so the AI resume sifter doesn’t get you. If you consulted with friends on legal topics, and did any legal writing, then I would label yourself as self-employed and put in things you did during that time. Then explain it was what you did to make things work and keep yourself sharp. Spin it in an interview as how you couldn’t just sit idle, and you professionally read, wrote and communicated through the tough personal time

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply. I DID keep up my pro bono work, and I will certainly follow your excellent advice. This ATS review of resumes bites, so I really appreciate your key words. Many thanks again!

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

How should I approach her in the upcoming year?

Hello,

I am a 3rd year insurance defense attorney with product and premise liability experience. Due to long-COVID, I am likely to lose my job.

The plan is to find a government position that would involve more substantive litigation and trial work, then leverage that into the private sector a few years down the line.

Any advice would be appreciated regarding networking, where to start, etc. Thank you.

I am looking for a new job at the end of a long career. I have excellent experience in IP and Supply Chain Management. I've been fortunate to be in a high-paying position in the Los Angeles area and I rarely see comparable positions posted. The comparable positions at my company are filled by one of the big executive search firms. Any recommendations for finding the rare executive-level legal positions or for landing on the radar of the big executive search firms would be much appreciated!
