At BAH you’re generally safe if you’re billable and below a Senior Associate (so a consultant/1, sr consultant/2, associate/3, or lead associate.) I would stay away from any Civil sector projects if possible as those are the ones getting cut the most. Right now, BAH is focusing most on Defense, Cyber, and AI.
As far as long term security, ask if the position is for a specific project (if not, idk if you should join the company unless you are highly technical or an AI specialist) and if so, how long the contract and option years are for it.
I would also add to this and say that if you’re work is in Quantum, you will be fine as well. BAH is becoming increasingly more specialized day-by-day and not really hiring consultants any longer, so keep that in mind when going through your interviews.
Ask if it is a new position on a new contract, or if it’s a backfill for someone who’s leaving an existing contract. If it’s a “new” role, ask if the position is sold & funded. Get the answers to this 2 questions, then ask how long the contract is and how many option years left.
