Germany has a pretty decent public school system. Why would you go private? Just asking
What private school would you want to
send your kids to that are better than most public schools in europe?
If you look at the top schools the top 100 universities in the world, all european ones are public…
Germany has good public schools, there's no reason to. Private school education still has to follow the same curriculum as the public schools. Unless you're looking for a boarding school or can afford Salem, there's no reason to.
Germany has very good public schools. I have seen many, literary many, public schools way better than many private schools. My kid goes to public school.
Having said that, coming from outside Germany, different people have different reasons to choose a private school. Few examples-
1. own native language, for those who are not sure how long they are going to live in Germany.
2. who don't believe in the German schools system, especially the fact that the path is decided after grade-4.
There might be many more.
Unless if you're staying for more than a year or two, than local school is definitely better so that they learn German and make friends faster. The German system of splitting kids by ability is wayy better than the US system of putting them all in the same class
Here is a thing - there is no one size fits all. You need to research schools in your specific location. With my elder, we decided to send her to a private school, because a) she is very sharp and a quick learner, she was in high talent program during elementary and we needed a school where they have a capacity to offer her extra curriculum to allow for her to learn all that she can grasp, b) we have a great private school in our town.
In the neighboring town the private school has much worse reputation that a state gymnasium. However we have a choice of at least three awesome gymnasiums within 15 min from us, so if she would have not liked the concept of a private school she could always go to one of the three state schools. My favorite was one with the focus on digital and MINT subjects.
Thanks everyone, the thing is the increase of migration has shown to have detrimental effects on the quality of ed. 1 in 4 students lack basic skills as of now and the rigid school system in Germany does not seem equipped to navigate this in a timely manner. Also ai driven solutions that were supposed to help were stalled. As much as I hate this but thought about using financial means to give the kids a better learning environment
This is true, but if you send your kids to a good gymnasium and target specific specialty/21st century programs like MINT, Abibac, Chinese as Abi subject, Begabteföderung, Latin/Greek (tends to attract fewer bad kids) and so on.
