Going to start at an MBB next year where I realize WLB will be tough. I have the option to graduate MBA early and either do nothing at all or try to get a mini internship. What do you all think is better? Complete and utter nothingness or make a few bucks and get some dif experience

Do nothing

like

This. Do nothing. Maybe get a brainless job working a few hours. But otherwise enjoy doing nothing.

I'd stay in school to spend more time with friends. If not that, I'd go travel the world. Don't worry much about misising $300-500 per week from an internship. You have a good mba, will be employed by MBB, and you'll make $500 MANY times over during the next year, let alone the rest of your career. But you'll never have the opportunity to spend more time with your current friends in school, and such freedom to travel (while young, able bodied, adventurous, with few/no responsibilities) is extremely uncommon.

I don't recommend nothingness. Time is finite. Do whatever you're curious about. Travel, catch up with friends, research things, work on a start up or help a small business, volunteer, try odd jobs,... all of these will help you with you career in some way.
I agree internship makes no sense. Nobody cares about that after you have work experience.

By nothingness i meant more no class and no work. I definitely plan to travel and hang with friends

Hello everyone, I'm a cs grad student graduating in may making a career transition from mechanical eng to cs. I had an internship but its been hard to find a fulltime dev role. I was thinking of taking a lower position at some company and working myself up maybe BI to DA. I would like to work as a dev but a lot of the small companies are offering salaries significantly under 100 for jr dev roles. Any thoughts?

So this might be a better place to post this and ask this question: Uncle D has announced explicitly that most people won’t get a pay raise & bonus this year except for those promoted and high performers. Amid this crisis, are companies including other big 3, MBB, FAANG, boutique consulting firms still giving high raises and issue stocks? Can you share the impact from your firm?

I’m in PA school now but in the process of interviewing for what might be my dream job in medical imaging industry. If I get the job pay will start around 120k at a large company with room for growth. If I stay in PA school I will have around 120k in debt and will probably work in vascular surgery. What would you do? It’s literally the second week of school for me, I have my 3rd interview for the job next week

Additional Posts in Consulting

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.
