I have a tax question. My father in law passed away in 2020 and we inherited his house. We are still in the probate process and we haven't got the house title. However, we have been paying the mortage and interest since we inherited the house. We filed the tax return for deceased person last year. Can we claim the mortgage interest deduction this year on our joint return (even though the 1099 will have my father in law's name)? Really appreciate any help!

It's sad to see people with 2-3 years of experience getting paid more than you when u have double the experience. 😄 Best part is they are still complaining of getting less. Well I guess you should never settle. New gen is giving a hard time to the experienced folks. I think this is the high time to upgrade your skills. Does anyone feel like they don’t want to go back to normal? On the one hand, absolutely I want to. I miss seeing friends, dressing up, going out, and traveling for work. On the other hand I have saved so much money over the past year, spent a lot more time with family than I would have ever been able to, and actually rested and been able to focus on my wellness (started therapy and treatment for a chronic condition.)
