Sorry to hear, but yes I would try to negotiate no harm in trying. What was the reason for the lay off? Were you on the bench for a while?
PWC?
Never hurts to ask. I had a friend who was able to secure a few extra months of health insurance coverage for herself on exit.
the reason was not shared with me - just told I had a very bad year but I did hit all my numbers...I was on the bench currently....but had a strong last fiscal year
Maybe it’s firm-wide headcount reduction. Ask if they will provide outplacement services, in addition to 6-8 weeks pay with health insurance while you work on finding somewhere to land.
I’m assuming not PWC, as our manager severance packages are laid our in our contracts, and we don’t use FY as a metric
Performance year
Don’t want to share the name of the firm as I owe a lot to this firm. It’s unfortunate that you are let go without reason. My current utilization is 70% and we are just 3 months into the new fiscal year :)
Respect that you don’t want to name the firm, but they just laid you off for no clear reason. I wouldn’t feel that I owe them anything at that point, you worked hard, in exchange they paid you- and now they’ve kicked you to the curb because you’re no longer needed.
