Sounds like a staff attorney attorney gig. You’re doing doc review and discovery objections for associates making considerably more than you. Plenty of people choose it though.

Word limit kept it short. It’s not in a big city office. I’m in a pretty specialized area which they say needs expansion in our state. Certainly hasn’t been presented as a staff attorney-type job.

I get 20+ recruiters reaching out a week about opportunities with GREAT work-life balance. Either the whole industry is suddenly working casual hours or (more likely) its an easy lie.

I’d be careful.

In my experience every firm bragging about its WLB has been straight-up lying. Firms that have it don’t flaunt it and you can pick it up by the tone of your interviewers and how stressed they seem (or don’t seem).

My monthly salary is around $6.4k after-tax. Living in NYC. Do you think it’s reasonable that I pay:
- about $1.5k on rent
- about $500 on utilities and subscriptions
- about $900 on student loan
- about $2k on food and etc.
My saving goals is around $3k so been trying to adjust my monthly spending.

Then they proceeded with the technical rounds and finally HR round was also cleared. They asked me to wait for the offer letter as they required approval from business. After a week when I got no updates on the offer letter i texted them asking about the same. They replied me on the text that the business did not gave approval for the offer. So, you’ve reached the stage of your career where you care more about cashing a fat paycheck than making “creative ads”. You’d rather have the resources and free time to fulfill your creative itch outside of work than try to sell the next big idea to an 28 year old marketing manager with an annual budget of 150k. How do you make the absolute most money as a copywriter while still working a 9-5? Asking for... a... friend?

30% gross is $2750/mo 😱
Others say I can afford 600k houses but that seems irresponsible and ridiculous.
My current rent is $1750 for a small 1bd1ba (cheap) but I’m sacrificing my safety in my neighborhood. No frills apt.

I’m a 4th year and I’ve never billed contemporaneously for even a one full week. I guess I’d just rather have one day of torture recording all my hours at the end of the month than that extra little torture daily. I’m wondering how common or rare this is in BigLaw. Thoughts?
