Had a team meeting last week where a colleague essentially tells the team contradictory information from what they told a different group. This drives me insane! How would you go about handling this?

Simple. Call them out.

like

I guess that’s one way of doing it!

There is simple good about just simply asking and not assuming it is for some bad reason. Although I know that can be up in the air at best with most people. If you really want to ask, do it, but honestly if it didn’t have anything to do with me, I’d just let it go.

Right, I mean we all know about the saying about when you assume!

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up. I'm non-confrontational but year-end reviews are right around the corner and I'm worried about having to act professional to someone who I got too close with and who now hates me.

I posted this somewhere else before I remembered that I am in this bowl :) so, I changed jobs 6-7 months ago and I am realizing it is not a good fit. Leadership seem to not want to hear the truth so people tell them what they want to hear and if you don’t middle management gets pissed at you. I am seriously thinking about looking somewhere else. My question is how do you answer the “why are you looking to leave” question without bad mouthing your current company?

Hello guys,
I am looking for opportunities in Risk Management, Risk Reporting, Model Development, Model Validation. Do ket me know if there are any vacancies in your companies.

5th September is my last working day at Infosys. Yoe=4+ yrs
Tech= aws devops
I hold an offer of 18LPA from KPMG with joining date of 7th September. (Wfh)
I applied at Workday on 15th May and went through 7 technical rounds of interview and received a verbal offer letter of 21LPA (hybrid)
Now apparently their technical panel "forgot" about the interview and wants to have a discussion again as 8th technical interview. HR says their joining date will be 19th September.

Should i join KPMG?

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!

My in-laws used to own a jewelry store, and they had this Omega quartz watch in their storage. I can understand why this wasn’t sold during their clearance sale lol. I had no idea Omega made stuff like this in 1987! I guess they couldn’t help it after the rise of quartz watches in the 70s to 80s. I doubt they’re worth anything even to this day. I see them on eBay for $700-1200, so who knows…
