The only agency I know that does this is WK - in which case it probably doesn’t matter your title. They only have CDs and creatives.
Have you had the senior title at a previous agency? Are they paying you at a senior level? Do they view you as a senior team? I’d say if you can confidently say yes to 2/3 of those then you can put it on your LinkedIn. But don’t promote yourself.
Also, I’d ask for as much clarity as possible on the role they expect you to play before you accept the job. Don’t want to take a step back.
Totally agree CD2, my advice is pertaining to whether or not they should promote themselves on LinkedIn with the title. Only do that if you’re being paid as a senior and have the book to back it up.
Yes VP, they have always had creative leaders, but anything below CD is “creative”.
You can call yourself whatever you want on your LinkedIn.
Like that designer who lied and changed their title to “creative director” on their resume/LinkedIn?
Sure, You can do it. but should you?
We also don’t designate those levels
seniority is always important, but why does your LI title matter? wouldn’t your book/experience will get you where you belong?
i’m currently working at an agency without those titles (as you can see from my title), but i’m never hit up as a “mid” because of it.
On their defense, most recruiters suck at properly reviewing candidate profiles and take shortcuts like title search to first find the candidate.
But to answer OP question: It doesn’t matter within the agency. You get the same work and exposure. If anything, it kinda seems like a healthier environment and a small initiative to get rid of title egos. Just put “senior” on your LI and resume.

CDs can tell what level you are by a combination of looking at your book, your years of experience, and your maturity when they talk to you.
They don't need you to have a job title to tell them.

We don’t do seniority in titles where I am and it’s nice. It’s sort of freeing.
If you’re worried that someone won’t know what level you’re at because you don’t have it attached to your title ... then you’re worrying about the wrong thing.
Just go into it and crush it. The work is always more important than the title.
We don’t designate internally. Your seniority is based on your experience, not your title.
As long as you’re being compensated fairly, you shouldn’t worry about it IMHO. Sounds like they want a Team with no borders. Very appealing :)
Get compensated what you deserve, experience accounted for. Titles help to level up your salary, position/role. Like school, students is vague. But when you hear freshman or senior or PhD you get a gauge of where someone is at w/experience.

Are you asking for salary purposes too?
Sounds like anomaly or a similar agency. If they pay well and working there can teach you a lot, and let you get some really good work done, who cares. The work is what's gonna get you the next job though trust I understand the need to hustle for the title
I don’t think it’s wrong to add “Senior” as long as it’s true. But I personally find it unnecessary. I’ve been in advertising 20 years and I don’t put “Senior” in my LinkedIn title. It’s simply “Copywriter” since that’s the part that helps recruiters find you when they need to source a writer. They’ll be able to tell quickly what level you are by your work history, and more importantly, by your work.
Best of luck. Hope you get the job if it feels like the right fit.
Then call yourself a Senior XYZ on your site and on linkedin. It's that simple. The official title at the agency doesn't matter.
To offer an alternate option: I’ve seen some people generalize all their titles after getting to the new shop.
So, a Senior Strategist at mother might just write “Strategy” as their title and then do that for all their past gigs as well.
