Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe we're already at the end of the year. My husband and I have some debt we're trying to get out of first, but then we're also trying to save $20K this year as well. Big year for us!

I'm hoping to increase my 401k percentage and put away a couple hundred a week

About $13k in 401k/Roth IRA, $4k in HSA and $3-5k in savings. So about $20k if you include it all.

I maxed out my 401k($30,000 contribution) last year.

25k minimum. 😭.
I know it's not much but that is my Max I can do and still live comfortably

I'm still living paycheck to paycheck because my debt is so high. My student loans are dragging me down. Hoping to get a handle on things in 2024 so I can start saving money.

Good luck on your journey

This year, I added $40,000 to my 401k with my contribution , company match earnings in 401k. Very happy

Anyone been able to work from Dubai for a UK/US firm and benefit from no taxes? I know if you are a US citizen you pay taxes where you are globally, but if you are British, then you only pay income tax on UK income - so if you live more than half the year abroad you are classed as non-domicile resident, but wanted to hear if anyone’s done this or heard about it?

Can someone please for the love of god help me figure out how I can pay less income taxes? I only make 88k and I put the 12k standard deduction but I’m still getting taxed 27% of my paychecks! My sign on bonus (20 even) a few months ago was taxed nearly 45%! Excuse my ignorance, but am I doing something wrong? Will increasing deductions help or should I increase the withholdings? Is this normal?! Thanks for any help/advice, it’s greatly appreciated.

Any tax accountants/attorneys in here? What would happen to the 401k of a foreign worker if they cannot longer maintain an immigration status and have to go back home? What about a ROTH 401k? Assuming they made after-tax contributions, would they still be able to take tax-free distributions if they are non-resident aliens for tax purposes?

Both in tech in the Bay Area. I’m in Arizona visiting family and am thinking of an investment property. Does anyone have a book/course/video that they personally have used and recommend for flipping houses? I want to do some research there’s a lot of content out there.
Thanks a bunch!
