I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. I think it just opens you up to scrutiny from your employer.. missed a meeting? It's because of your other job. Made a small mistake... Every little thing you do even slightly wrong will be blamed on this and they will be less forgiving.
Employment contracts usually describe how you can’t to take on other jobs.
And if you did, you’d in breach of your contract. Not great news to share with your employer.
Further context: my contract doesn't include a moonlighting clause*
Nah. They don't care.
I never have disclosed when I worked a second job. It felt weird to work for another place. It should be viewed as what you said, but companies usually don't care that you don't make enough to get by.
I’ve never not had more than 1 job…sometimes 3-4. I didn’t know it was something to not talk about
I would never disclose that to my employer. You'll never know when he will use it against you. Just sayin.
I’ve been considering getting a second job. What else are people doing that allows them to manage their attorney job too?
I always disclose that i work multiple jobs and go to school. They need to know where my priorities are and it shows (i believe) that i work hard in all my roles
