Hi,
I'm currently having an offer from BlueOptima and Cohesity and am conflicted between the two.
I have offers in the SDET profile.
Cohesity Inc is providing me MTS and @BlueOptima is providing SDET-1.
Glassdoor reviews more of less place the two companies almost equally, and the package being offered by the two is almost in the same range.
My preferences include:
Learning opportunities in the role.
Company's work environment.
Company's growth prospects, are also a consideration.
YOE: 2 years

I'm in the Army Reserve. The higher in rank you get, the more likely you will have to travel for Battle Assembly. Feel free to DM me and we can have a longer talk
It was pretty common in the unit. I went to basic with a lot of guys in their late 30’s, who felt it was now or never.
I’m in the Guard and work at EY. It’s doable but not worth it
There are so many benefits to being in the military and is great because you have the reserves as an option without having to sacrafice for a full active 4 years. I can tell you right now i would not be where I am today without joining the Army.I was in for 9 years in the army national guard as an it specialist 25B then my career surpased my segeant rate over time. since i wasnt an officer it didnt make sense to stay in especially when my unit started lying to me and messing up promotion paperwork; it became easier to just ETS with all the BS i had to deal with. 2 years after being out I wanted to direct commision as a cyber officer and really tried to make it work because the stockholme syndrome got me good. but again i keep excelling in my career to the point where a year of training would not work not to mention deployments, trainings, cpt careers course and just everything. My situation might be different from the next but having a family plays a big part not to mention me specifically have 2 full time jobs in IT. your question, would i personally join for a combat mos of I already had a career going? No. i would need some type of value to add to my career such As job skills like an IT,cyber or intel type Mos in addition to a clearance. use the Military, dont let it chew you up and spit you out likr it does to many of us.
It’s never to late! Go for it

I think Guard and Reserves are very unit/role specific so I would look for one that matches what you are looking for. I did the Guard after active duty and though I liked it initially it just became hard to balance between my job and it. They were understanding but they regularly had 3 or 4 day weekend drills which I just couldn’t take off from work. A lot of the unit were active guard people or police/fireman so it was easy for them to manage.

Joined guard 11B at 26 Y/O, currently 29, happy to share my experiences with you.
I would leave it tomorrow if they gave me the option.

PM - signed for 6.
Couple of reasons. I didn’t have this role when I joined, and my schedule was different but it’s nothing but a thorn in my side. Time commitment is always higher, have no interest in it anymore as we’re not doing anything productive, I don’t have much in common with the people in my unit anymore & I’ve turned down the schools they wanted to send me to because of work priorities.
Balancing them is not easy and the reserves just isn’t high on my priority list when looking at my responsibilities.

Major here, reserves, 18 years total. We only do it for my wife to have addtl healthcare coverage. And maybe a few shekels supplemental at 60. Otherwise a giant burden on my weekends and the weeks building up.
I did this. Recently switched to IRR. We are out of AFG, so the NG / Reserves doesn’t have a ton of real world to do these days. Weekends were a huge burden on my family and without a real mission it no longer felt worth it. Would tread carefully, peace time reserves is prob gonna be a lot paperwork, some random trainings at inconvenient times and no deployments.
I'm going to disagree on not much to do, We are still deploying (at least MPs) at a fairly regular clip, just not to combat zones.
When I was in the guard, I was deploying every other year. Granted, this was 2010-2015, so idk what it's like anymore, but it might not be as low commitment as you're expecting
bro u ever consider digital nomading
Retired after 21+ years in the Guard under 5 Presidents.
Your experience will vary greatly depending on
1) the unit (and MOS) you choose,
2) whether O or E (or WO), and
3) most importantly, which you make a priority- your civilian career or your military career (which may even change from time to time).
Lol, yeah, have to wait till 60 to collect and get free medical. I thinknif I stayed in could have retired at like 57 and started collecting, but don't quote me on that.
Better to work the disabled system. More money than retirement if you’ve been in combat
It’s doable but not worth it unless you really love wearing a uniform and are willing to sacrifice promotions / bonuses in your day job for that.
