Left for Deloitte (F&P) from Accenture (TS&A). Overall I have regretted it.
I think we are all shaped by the firm we grow up so if the Accenture values resonate with you I would recommend you avoid Deloitte. Also Deloitte has a ton of big fishes in small ponds as the partnership model creates thiefdoms which encourages the narcissistic and unempathic behaviours. (I was warned of this by a mentor and a Csuite in-law before I moved too)
Compensation wise - up to SM (in my geo) ACN pays better; also consider your total comp between the very nice RRSP match and ESPP it equates to a ~9% on base salary; also look at what the bonus structure is. My last bonus at ACN was over 20% - I haven’t heard anything similar here.
Deloitte prides an “entrepreneurial” lens. What it means is that their Learning and Development is worse than the startups I have worked with (Accenture’s is very mature and broad). It also means less bureaucracy but also less structure so you are on your own for joining and integrating into the firm.
I believe Deloitte is a prime example of why we have seen a strengthening of White Collar Slavery Laws because of the lack of internal governance and protection.
Your probably right
Expect same $hit different toilet, but with more compliance and training requirements because you would be at a firm that is primarily accounting/audit. Wlb is a dice roll, but expect WLB on average to be marginally worse for D vs ACN. The % increase in pay should be greater than the % increase in work, assuming you are homegrown at ACN vs an experienced hire at D.
Thanks, this is very helpful. I am homegrown, and the compensation just isn’t doing it for me anymore.
I think tech to consulting means exchanging a sweater for a suit? Overexaggerated but would expect a different culture or different Individual mindsets and backgrounds

I love Deloitte much more. Hate Accenture so far and gonna leave soon

Bummer. Also following and curious.
I’m sorry…what WLB? There are people who have that at Accenture?
