More women in the US have miscarriages than abortions. If you’re worried about “unborn children”, it would be more worthwhile to focus on maternal health and figure out how prevent all natural miscarriages (some of which require abortion care to rid the womb of remaining tissue, so also addressing abortion procedure numbers if that’s what you care more about).
There is moral outrage over that too lol
The pro-life movement grew out of Catholic radicals who lived its principles more fully. These are folks who were anti-war, anti-death penalty and very pro-supporting the poor and disenfranchised.
I've done a lot of volunteer work in Catholic worker houses with radical Catholics of this generation and we've had wonderful, productive conversations about being pro-life because they live it and mean it so fully. They are truly trying to make a world where all life is honored.
The movement has been co-opted by traditionalists raging against the decline of family values, aka they really want to keep women in the home. That's why the issue is so separate from all of the other natural follow on policies (eg ending the death penalty). It has built its own legs by preying on the naive with extreme and uncommon versions of abortion that do a disservice to the nuance of the vast majority of abortion situations.
Faith is complex and reflective and ever changing. Don't use a surface level version of my religion to validate your bigotry.
I am absolutely pro choice liberal from New England. Your logic doesn’t make sense man. One is literally spelled out in the constitution. One is not. The SC, as much as I hate the outcome, basically said it’s not the federal governments job to regulate abortion it’s the states. Because it isn’t in the constitution. Guns, however you feel about that issue, are. They said it is the federal governments decision to make because the states are overreaching on enumerated rights. Congress needs to pass a law mandating abortion access. I’m devastated by the overturning of Rowe v Wade, but people don’t seem to understand what the Constitution even is or what it guarantees. Or even the SC ruling for that matter.

SCOTUS can easily overturn any federal abortion law passed and say it's up to the states. An amendment is needed and that's not going to happen.

I'm a practicing Catholic who has personally worked very hard to avoid being in a situation where I might need an abortion. I would get one in the case of my health, fetal abnormalities, or rape. Friends and family have had abortions for those reasons, and it had crushed their families to be put in a place where they have to abort a loved and wanted baby. To assume you know the situation of all families choosing abortion is astounding.
I would like to prevent there abortions because it's an awful decision to have to make. I would like to do so by offering comprehensive sexual education, free and easy access to birth control, and better fetal and maternal care. I would not like to do so by forcing my religious beliefs on all Americans.
My faith calls me to love others precisely because it is difficult. There is a reason Jesus asked us to love the lepers, the prostitutes, and the poor. To love an unborn fetus as your priority over the imperfect people of the world is to lack moral imagination and strength.

Getting an abortion is a sucky decision that most women would rather not have to make but I'm all about them having the option to make it.
Honestly, part of why I'm bothering to participate is to combat the assumption that every Christian out here is trying to ban abortion soooo 🤷♀️

Unborn children are doing just fine it’s when they’re born to a parent who didn’t want them and they lack basic resources because let’s be honest most woman who are actually impacted by this are poor that’s when they’ll be in a real bad spot
