The claim process was a bit annoying but they did pay. The annoying part was exactly what you highlight - I had to call the airline afterward and wait on hold a bit to get them to email me such a statement, since it’s not a typical thing.
For what it’s worth, in my case I think it was still worth it as I pulled the trigger before waiting for airline-provided transport to a shitty airport hotel, and used it to cover a night at a JW Marriott with a nice restaurant meal while everyone else in a full flight waited 1hr for a bus to be organized, 1hr to check in, 1hr for breakfast and 1hr for another bus the next morning
Post this in the travel bowl if there is one still
Update: crisis averted on the toothbrushes, I forgot that I stuffed those until-now-useless business class travel pouches they give you in my backpack
It’s a weird hipster hotel (Moxxy?) without many extras. And it was an outdoor walk to get here and back to the airport. Got my 83 year old father with me which adds to the fun.
Either way whether there’s heat or toothbrushes, the point is I want to know from someone’s experience what hoops I’ll have to jump through to use the CSR travel delay benefit.
Chief
I would think your time is far more valuable than processing a claim for a toothbrush.
I don’t know if they cover clothing but they might. I did this for a cancellation in Denver a few times and they paid for toiletries, meals, hotel, cabs. It was pretty easy to get the letter by contacting the airline. I think they are legally required to document the causes so you will have luck getting this from the airline itself or maybe even the internet. Good luck!
Unfortunately they don’t cover missed connections due to customs delays. Learned that the hard way 😞
The hotel doesn’t have toothbrushes or heat?
