will just say the job market is ass atm.
if you can hold on a bit longer I'd try to do that tho I understand wanting to leave sooner.
Yeah the job market being in the dumps is just adding to my stress and feeling trapped here 🙁 I think i’ll have to make a tough decision coming up if I value my mental health over my ego.
Talk to a doctor and get on medical leave if you can. I did that a few years ago and saved my life. I even somehow got a promotion while I was out! Earlier this year I left without a job when I couldn’t stand it any longer. What people say about the job market is true. I’ve only gotten part time. But I have the luxury of a spouse w a good income so we’re not in desperate situation.
Wishing you the best.
D1, thanks for the thoughtful response. I am going on a much needed 2 week vacation in a couple weeks so hoping to use that as time to clear my head.
Not if you can swing it financially
Managing Director 1, I sadly agree
If you’re worried about how it looks on your resume or LinkedIn, you can list your time off as a sabbatical. Looks better than dead time. You can also say you took time off to take a class or pursue _____ or do part of the Appalachian Trail, etc.
You said you already have the savings, and I usually discourage most people about this as a freelancer in the market right now. But maybe go freelance baby. We do make our schedules. Not going to say the trauma of being in advertising goes away (I’m notoriously bad at taking a break but any day now the market is going to make me) but having more control to take design gig over a CD one and not be responsible for people is freeing. Step off the ladder, we don’t need it to be professional and creative.
Can you take some time off? Maybe that could help you feel refreshed. Even a few days.
dude same, consider it daily.
Are you able to discuss this at all with your supervisor? Possibly transfer to another client? I’m sure they’d rather help you than lose you.
