Have been trying to return to Google (by applying to similar positions as the one I held) since making a short-sighted decision to leave in the spring. I had top metrics during my ~9 months full time and during two internships. I did not stay long enough to go through a formal review cycle as an FTE but had received two return offers. How do I go about returning? Is it possible I received negative feedback on my way out? I hadn’t received anything but positive feedback during my time as an FTE.

Not gonna lie - they’ll probably treat you like any other applicant, with slight favorability if your past managers reach out to the recruiter with positive comments. Curious on what “top metrics” mean if you didn’t go through a formal Perf cycle … Perf is where official feedback is logged and you’re given a score.

I was in a business role (not SWE) and our metrics were tracked in real time across the team (ie quality of work, speed to output, etc.) - so for internship and full time we knew at any given time how we were performing relative to our colleagues

Have you contacted your old boss about coming back? They may honestly be bitter that you lift.

However, I don’t want to feel like I wasted 2 years clerking (which I don’t feel like that, but I have to convince an employer of that too). Any help or insight?

I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k

Had my virtual on-site for an S&O L3 role 3.5 weeks ago (NYC, 5 YOE). I haven’t heard back on a decision yet, and was wondering how long it typically takes? I also know that I was one of the very first candidates to interview for this specific role, and there are atleast 2 more people scheduled for onsites. Does the recruiter typically wait for all candidates to finish their onsites before communicating a decision? Or if I haven’t heard back yet, it’s probably a reject?
