Hello all! Ive been a paralegal for 3 years now. This is my plan C-took a risk, went back to school for my Paralegal Certificate & has been very good to me BUT I still feel unfulfilled in life. I have learned that I like the administrative side of business. I like optimizing practices & having a say in decision-making & I’ve always been a creative person by nature. I took the Meyer Briggs Personality test & was deemed an “Advocate.” But am not interested in social work or healthcare. PLEASE HELP

Serious answer: stop looking for fulfillment in your work. This is a mistake. You are not your job. Take your paycheck, go home, and then seek fulfillment. Everyone spouting this "do what you love" garbage is an idiot.

Earn money efficiently and then do what you love for every other waking moment you can spare. If you want to seek another career option because you see that you will be happier in your 9-5, can earn more, and know what will fill those gaps for you, then go for it. But making other people money while trying to keep a roof over your head and food in your belly is no way to find fulfillment...

Your job allows you to earn the money to live your life. Your job is not your life.

If you want to get into administration, you can do that with your paralegal certificate...look into being a legal admin. Good ones are worth their weight in gold and often hold a firm together. Start looking at that angle, and you won't have to start from scratch this way, either.

Coming from someone who has been a paralegal for over 20 years, I would suggest you change your career path before it's too late. I am currently working towards transitioning into a new career and it has been really tough.

uplifting

So sorry to hear that from you guys! I wish you the best!!

Continuation: I feel like this new found reflection has guided me to look into Marketing and HR but I don’t know how to get into it or what exactly the types of roles I should be looking at. Additionally, I cannot do a pay cut considering pay rent, bills etc or SALES! I did it before as a salesperson and was miserable

Is it CLM or CLA?

How do you know when it is time to move on. I am the only litigation paralegal billing over 2,500 a year consistently. Love the boss I work the most for but that person has grown distant. Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

Where do you find the time to get everything done in the day when you have multiple partners, associates and equity partners that interrupt you and want things turned around immediately while simultaneously working on deadlines? I feel like I’m the only one that can’t manage a 70+ case load without letting someone down. I constantly have to say “Can I do this tomorrow?” Etc. I don’t even have time to bill on the clock. I work until 7p at least every night. Top 10 family law firm.
