4 years of experience in supply chain, recently became a consultant, not that uncommon of a role. it was really eye opening to see things in the weeds and then seeing things on a higher level. you understand why upper level management deprioritizes certain logistics and supply chain issues even though they shouldn't. vice versa also true since also realized why processes I complained about before were not easy fixes. I think one thing I already kinda knew but never the full extent until I came to my new role. it is extremely tough trying to set up a supply chain/logistics system from scratch. holy crap. I totally understand why some systems are so clunky or outdated, and why it's so time consuming to make certain improvements even if they seem easy
One of the positions that I enjoyed the most in the supply career discipline, was that of materials analyst, it was always a job with tight deadlines, but I always complied and it was very rewarding to be part of those processes.
I haven't been in the field as long as you but what I love the most about the logistics/supply industry is the fact that you get to interact with people in so many different companies. I like thinking on my feet and I definitely have a lot of chances for that when I have to contact other warehouses and stops along the line to find out where my shipments might have ended up. It's always an adventure!
