After the first couple years, I stopped with the dog and pony show and just did whatever I had planned for the day.
"No exit ticket," "no social contract," or "the lesson objective wasn't written as an 'I can' statement" are all indications that you're being evaluated by checklist, almost certainly by someone who doesn't know how to teach and wouldn't recognize good teaching if they saw it. At best, your evaluator may be competent but may be forced to put those things in by a boss who isn't (and that's probably the case if they obviously inflate your score elsewhere to compensate for the BS).
Not much you can do in that case except make sure to check the box next time you're evaluated while looking for another job.
Any reading lesson for that week.
The one I was planning to do that day.
Honestly, I don't change anything I'm doing to put on a dog-and-pony show for admin. I did that when I was a new teacher. 30 years later, I don't really concern myself with the extra body in the room.
Usually a formative with PearDeck or Post-It’s and small group or pair work like jig saws or something similar. I don’t change what we’ve been working on. My admin. gives us options, so I can plan for a day that fits.
