Anyone have any suggestion son what to discuss when a candidate has an interview and the hiring manager (also the co. owner) instructs you to "sit with them" until she's ready? Sometimes this can take 30-45 minutes which is agonizingly long trying to make small talk. The other day I ended up having to sit with one in the exec lunchroom for over an hour and then they brought me a second to also entertain at the same time.

I went through a few interviews with the Deloitte Cybersecurity for a manager role. I've been in more senior roles at competing firms. Initially I said no thanks, but after the 4th call they made an initial offer at the top pay of the manager salary range and sent me a link to the application form. It's a 20% pay bump for me. So the question is should I take a demotion for 20% pay bump? Or counter with a lateral move? Is it even possible to negotiate a higher level after interviews are done?
