Bain has the least life sciences work though you can still carve out a space. They probably do more DD/PEPI work compared to the others. But the bulk of the overall work (strategy, transformations, etc) goes to McK, closely followed by BCG. It was a big factor in why I chose McK, given my background in LS
Also, what was your background prior to McK?
Bain is only starting to build their LS practice, was scooping people hard last year
My gut sense is that if you feel like you know LS pretty well and would be okay striking out somewhat on your own / without a lot of guidance or training, it could be an exciting opportunity. However, I still feel like I need to develop a bit more pharma/LS expertise before I make that type of move (~1.5 years at ZS, AC level)
The way staffing works here. I would not recommend moving if you are interested in a specific area.
Could you add more context to your comment?
Very good in the PE space, but small for corporate work.
Huge focus on growing it right now though (particularly through external hires)
Ah I see, always worth having conversations to see what you think!
I work in our HC PEG practice. It’s very strong in dilligences. Not so much in portfolio work and our corporate LS is negligible. But if you are open to doing healthcare diligences then Bain is a great place to work!
Sure. DM me and I can set up a call.
You at ZS currently?
If you are looking at marketing, Accenture has a lot in that area
Bain is a pretty competitive company. They are currently building up their reputation in the area and I believe they can keep up in no time. What have you heard so far?
Always talking about LS practice in specific (and at a junior level)
Agree with the above. Bain is not the place for LS work.
Some other firms worth considering for LS:
ZS, Simon Kucher, LEK, ClearView
