I saw i was pinned so thought I should update. I am taking WSET 2 with Napa valley wine academy. I will follow up and let you guys know how it is
You would likely get value out of it. I have friends who have taken it who have enjoyed it. You may already know some of the WSET 1 content, so would confirm that. I did hear they are changing the process so you can’t skip WSET 1 without a recommendation from someone certified though.
WSET 2 covers a lot of “what grows where” as I recall, and maybe some characteristics of each grape (but I’m not creating. If you already have both a deep and broad knowledge of that you might be able to skip, but the repetition and comprehensive nature might be worthwhile.
I just did WSET level 2. Would recommend you take in person and meet some local winos and industry folks. Feel free to DM and I can share more about my experience if you’d like
Take a look at the free resources from Winefolly.com they have great books and study material and some courses as well. I am taking the 201 Wine Course, apparently their exam is equivalent to the WSET 2 (and its cheaper)
I took WSET 1-3 and have no regrets. It’s amazing (albeit a bit expensive). Learned more than I thought I could. Definitely recommend in person classes over online
Not for 2 but we did for 3
If you’re trying to save money the Wine Folly 201 course is great, you can do the modules whenever you want to and the 50 question exam is said to be equivalent to the WSET2 course.
