Hi all, I’m a 5th year associate practicing commercial litigation. In October of 2022, I passed the USPTO Registration Exam and received my Registration No. in December. I only have a bachelors degree in biological sciences with a good bit of research experience while in undergrad. I have recently applied to several grad school programs to enroll in a masters program to combat my education. Any tips for my job search?

Do you want to do patent prosecution? If so, I would not bother with a masters. I would just start applying to prosecution firms and get experience.

like

You’re better off getting a second bachelors in CS or EE than a masters in biological sciences

Disagree. Don’t waste your time with another BS degrees. Just start patent pros now if that’s what you really want to do.

like

This is a great time, because the life sciences industry is soaring and patent pros jobs for people with life sciences backgrounds are heating up.

Do you have patent pros experience? If not, you might have an issue with having the billing rate of a 5th year with the pros experience of a 1st year.

It would probably be easier for you to grab patent litigation jobs, but if you’re really set on pros, I recommend working with a recruiter.

Sanity check. Going to preface this by saying I'm not in a rush. I wanted to get some good consulting experience so joined EY out of UG. Got early promo, but I've reached the point where I'm no longer growing (learning) much on my current team. I've become very interested in PE and want to give that a shot. I lack the resume experience.

Thinking to move within EY to an M&A focused group SaT or EYP. Do ~2 years and see if I still want that. Will that tick the box for most PE shops?

ADHD medication with high Blood Pressure?

I found ADHD meds helpful when I worked in consulting in my 20s. I stopped the meds when I went back to school. Also have had High BP since late 20s. 15 years away, I am back in consulting and loving it, however my difficulties juggling so many projects/tasks is holding me back. I know I would benifit from some ADHD medication but my Dr won’t prescribe any with my history of BP (controlled with BP meds). Anyone else gone through this? Any tips?

Does anyone find an attack on the Examiner’s prima facia showing of obviousness a lot more effective than distinguishing each and every prior art reference.

I recently underwrote a reply to final. Didn’t even bother with the references since I just got the case. Overcame the rejections.

Can anyone comment on how effective this is?
