Hi everyone. Happy Friday! Accepted an offer with Deloitte GPS as a manager and I’m super excited to start soon. What are some things that you’d recommend that I watch out for and pay attention to if I want to make SM in a couple of years?

1. People are going to constantly tell you it’ll take some time to know the Deloitte way; try to sneakily preempt this by not showing exactly how new you are
2. Take your time finding a project, and if you can’t, then don’t waste time (more than 6 months) on one that is clearly not a good fit for whatever reason. That being said, take advantage of stability for that first bit to learn the firm once you have a handle on your project
3. Get involved in BD, not just the one off proposals, although that’s a good starting point, but get into the pipelines so you can plan your next project and set yourself up for selling success rolling into SM
That’s great advice! Thank you both.

Just want to thank you for providing context to your ask. Congratulations on the new job
Congrats. Don't trust most Senior Managers. There is a perverse incentive to become a partner. There are exceptions but rare.
Trust me of course 🙂
Oh you don't say "no" You say "yes but" or "I need to get back to you"
